Introduction
You might already be aware that access to Indigo features and tools is ruled by Permissions. This means that to be able to perform actions in a feature, you have to assign the proper permissions to your Users. Device Manager is no exception in this regard.
โ
๐ก Tip
โ
Since Device Manager is a tenant-based feature, it allows you to consult cross-company details such as devices and their settings, or some Employee details, regardless of your already assigned permissions and filters.
โ
In other words, even though you don't work in a specific Work Zone, you'll still be able to see the devices assigned to it, along with its already imported and assigned Employees.
When importing Employees though, there are two possible circumstances to consider:
TA_DeviceManagerViewAllUsers is assigned and overrides your current Employee visibility only for Device Manager.
E.g. In HR > Employees you will still see people according to your permissions and filters, but in the Import Employees modal in Attendance > Device Manager > My Users, you will see all the Employees for all the companies in your tenant.TA_DeviceManagerDeviceUser is assigned instead of the one above. In this case, what you see in HR > Employees is what you'll see when accessing the Import Employees modal from the My Users part of Device Manager.
Device Manager Permissions
If you want the Device Manager feature to be displayed and accessed from the Attendance module, make sure to grant the following permissions to your Indigo Users.
โ
Permission | Access Description | Possible Actions |
TA_DeviceManagerActivity | It is related to Device Activity and the 'Activity' section in My Devices. | Delete, Export, Import, Insert, Update, View |
TA_DeviceManagerDevices
| This unlocks access to My Devices. | Delete, Export, Import, Insert, Update, View |
TA_DeviceManagerDeviceUser | In My Users > Import Employees, it allows you to view only employees as per your assigned filters and other permissions. | Delete, Export, Import, Insert, Update, View |
TA_DeviceManagerFactoryRest | This makes the Clear Data function available in My Devices > select a device > Additional Info > Functions dropdown. | Execute |
TA_DeviceManagerReprocessActivity | Assign it to have the Reprocess Activity ๐ button in My Devices > Activity section and in Device Activity. | Execute |
TA_DeviceManagerSettings
| This provides access to the Settings page. | Delete, Export, Import, Insert, Update, View |
TA_DeviceManagerUsers
| Use it to provide access to the My Users page. | Delete, Export, Import, Insert, Update, View |
TA_DeviceManagerViewAllUsers | In My Users > Import Employees, all employees across your tenant will be visible, regardless of your other permissions and filters. | Delete, Export, Import, Insert, Update, View |
TA_DeviceManagerWorkZones
| This gives access to the Work Zones page. | Delete, Export, Import, Insert, Update, View |
๐ค Remember that the TA_TimeAndAttendanceMenu permission is a prerequisite, otherwise the Attendance module and all its content won't show in the left vertical menu. This also applies to the permissions below. ๐
Permissions for Reports
There is a set of permissions which grants access to Device Manager reports. They can be paired with the above-mentioned permissions for full access to Device Manager. However, if only the Reporting section is required, go ahead and assign only the following:
โ
Permission | Access Description | Possible Actions |
TA_DeviceAccessControlAudit | Device Access Control Audit report | Delete, Export, Import, Insert, Update, View |
TA_DeviceManagerAudit | Device Manager Audit report | Delete, Export, Import, Insert, Update, View |
TA_DeviceManagerOfflineHistory | Device Uptime report | Delete, Export, Import, Insert, Update, View |
TA_DeviceUptimeReportPermission | Device Uptime report | Execute, View |
