Introduction

The Settings section in Device Manager allows you to specify how devices should behave when managing data and interpreting input clockings. The screen is divided into two sections: Device Data and Punch State IDs.

Device Data

Here you can set up how the system is going to retrieve, keep and push users' data to the devices.

Setting

Values

What is it used for?

Keep Successful Activity history for

14, 21, or 31 days

To set how long we store activities with a 'Success' status before they're automatically deleted.

(Note: Pending, In Progress and Fail status activities are never deleted.)

Polling Interval

5, 10, 30, 60, or 120 seconds

To decide how often you want the devices to check for and process activities.

Note: By default, it's set to 30 seconds.

Send Users to Device Before Employment Start?

Yes or No

When set to 'Yes', the Users are sent to the device on creation.
When 'No' is chosen, the Users are sent on their Start Date.

Send Users & Biometrics to Device Individually?

Yes or No

If set to 'Yes', users and biometrics are sent to the device one by one.
If set to 'No', the device will process users in batches of 25.

Note: Some older devices weren't processing data properly when received in bulk. Processing users one at a time prevents the device from being overloaded and slowed down.

After choosing your settings, click on Save Device Data Settings on the bottom right of the screen. By doing so, you will be exclusively saving your choices in this specific section. {{what does the 2nd sentence mean?}}

Punch State IDs

Use this section to customise your Punch State IDs according to your needs, for all the devices in Device Manager.

Now, you might be thinking, πŸ€” 'Ok thanks, but what's a Punch State ID?'.
A 'Punch State ID' is a numeric value used to identify the different type of punches occurring in the devices.

For example, let's say that before implementing Device Manager, you had a device with its own set of punch IDs (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4). When adding the device to Device Manager, it's very important to update its Punch State IDs to '1, 2, 3, 4' in Device Manager, so that the physical device and its counterpart on Device Manager can exchange clockings seamlessly.

An ID can be assigned to both Clock-In and Out, and Break-In and Out punches.

Usually, the above-mentioned IDs are initially entered by our technicians when setting up your Device Manager.

On the other hand, if you need to amend any of the above mentioned fields, feel free to proceed as needed, and select Save Punch State IDs Settings to specifically save your modifications within this very section.
