Introduction

The Settings section allows you to specify how the devices in Device Manager should behave in terms of managing data and interpreting input punches. The screen is divided into two sections: Device Data and Punch State IDs.

Device Data

Here you can set up how the system is going to retrieve, keep and push users' data to the devices.

Field

Values

What is it used for?

Keep Success Activity history for

14, 21, or 31 days

To determine how long we store the activities in 'Success' status before they are automatically deleted.

Note: The activities in Pending, In Progress and Fail status will always be kept.

Polling Interval

5, 10, 30, 60, or 120 seconds

To decide how often you want the devices to ask or check for activities and process them accordingly.

Note: By default it is set to 30 seconds.

Send Users to Device Before Employment Start

Yes or No

If this setting is set to 'Yes', the Users are sent to the device as soon as they are created.
If 'No' is selected, the Users will be sent as soon as their set Start Date hits.

Send Users & Biometrics to Device Individually

Yes or No

If set to 'Yes', the users and their biometrics will be sent to the device one by one.
If it is set to 'No', the device will process the users in batches of up to 25.

Note: There are older devices which were not processing data properly when receiving it in bulk. By processing users one at a time, it will instead prevent the device from being overloaded and slowed down.

Once your selections will be completed, click on Save Device Data Settings. By doing so, you will be exclusively saving your choices in this specific section.

Punch State IDs

Use this section to customise your Punch State Ids according to your needs, for all the devices in Device Manager.

Now, you might think πŸ€” : 'Ok thanks, but what's a 'Punch State ID'?'
A 'Punch State ID' is a numeric value used to identify the different type of punches occurring into the devices.

For example, let's say that before implementing Device Manager, you had your own device with its own set punch IDs (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4) . When adding the device to Device Manager, it is very important to update its Punch State IDs to '1, 2, 3, 4' to have them aligned so that the physical device and its counterpart on Device Manager can exchange clockings seamlessly.

An ID can be assigned to both Clock-In and Out, and Break-In and Out punches.

Usually, the above mentioned IDs are initially filled by our technicians when setting up your Device Manager.

On the other hand, if you need to amend any of the above mentioned fields, feel free to proceed according to your needs, and select Save Punch State IDs Settings, to specifically save your modifications within this very section.
