Introduction
The Job Evaluation Tool (JET) uses both payroll pay items (such as Basic Salary) and non-payroll pay items (such as one‑off payments) when evaluating a position.
However, only pay items with a Payment Type of Fringe Benefit, Adjustment or Perk can be configured for JET or excluded from JET evaluations altogether.
When you create a pay item, and select one of these payment types, the Job Evaluation Tool section will appear within the pay item form.

The Job Evaluation Tool Section in Pay Items
To access the Job Evaluation Tool section, got to Payroll & Leave > Payroll Setup > Pay Items, then open a Fringe Benefit, Adjustment or Perk pay item or create a new one. The section is right at the bottom of the screen and contains the following options. Click on the links to read more about them:
💡 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) is a measure of how much of a full-time schedule an employee works. For example, if full-time employment is based on 40 hours per week, an employee who works 20 hours per week has an FTE of 0.5, meaning they work 50% of full-time hours, while an employee who works 40 hours per week has an FTE of 1.0, meaning they work 100% of full-time hours.
JET FTE Calculation
The JET FTE Calculation setting determines whether a pay item should be adjusted based on an employee's Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) or used without adjustment. You can choose between Pro Rata or As Is.
Pro Rata
Select Pro Rata when JET should convert the pay item's value to its full-time equivalent amount before evaluating the position.
For example, if an employee works 20 hours per week and receives €100 per month, JET adjusts the amount to the equivalent value for a 40-hour week (FTE). In this case, the pay item is treated as €200 during the job evaluation process.
As Is
Select As Is when the pay item's value should be used exactly as entered, without any FTE adjustment.
Using the same example, an employee working 20 hours per week and receiving €100 per month would have the pay item treated as €100 during the job evaluation process.
Exclude from JET
The Exclude from JET checkbox determines whether JET should use the pay item during job evaluation calculations.
✔️ Ticked: JET ignores the pay item and excludes it from job evaluation calculations and related outputs.
🔲 Unticked: JET processes the pay item and applies the selected JET FTE Calculation setting.
