Navigating Indigo | Main screen, menus, and modules explained

Main Screen

This is the default screen that greets you when logging in on Indigo. It provides quick access to the many functions Indigo offers, depending on which modules you are licensed to use. The screen is split into different areas to facilitate navigation and the day-to-day use of the product.


Header Bar

Highlighted by the red box above, the Header Bar provides quick access to a number of options and functions as shown below:

  • Search Bar

This allows you to search for Indigo files, including Support, Payroll, and Setup Files, as well as online help topics. You will not be able to search for employees here.

  • History

This provides access to visited pages, including the time each page was accessed to the nearest hour. This feature allows you to quickly go back to previously opened pages.

  • Notifications

This provides access to system notifications. The number of notifications is shown in the yellow digit on the bottom right of the icon.

  • Current Windows

This icon provides access to open Indigo windows. Use this button to quickly switch between open windows without having to close the current screen.

  • Help Menu

Click on the question mark icon highlighted in red to access a dropdown list of helpful features:

  1. Online Help takes you to the Indigo Help Centre where you can search a library of articles for detailed information on Indigo's many features.

  2. Indigo Training Videos is where you can register to access our video tutorials.

  3. Employee Portal Tutorials lists all our video tutorials for the Employee Portal in one place.

  4. Keyboard Shortcuts details all the keyboard shortcuts to help you use Indigo more efficiently.

  5. Ideas Portal takes you to the portal hosting all suggestions and ideas submitted via our Suggest Feature option. You can check the status of your suggestions and browse through and vote on others' ideas.

  6. Suggest Feature gives you the chance to send us your ideas and suggestions.

  7. Authorise Data Access lets you generate an access code to give our support staff should you need them to access your system.

  8. License shows your license information and lets you request a license quote.

  • Profile Photo

Clicking on your profile photo or avatar presents a drop-down menu with the option to view your profile or log out.

  • Indigo Logo and the Sidebar

Click on the Indigo logo or the burger icon, shown above in the top highlight, to access your list of available modules, shown in the lower highlight box.

  • Company Drop-down

If your Indigo setup includes multiple companies, use the company drop-down menu to see your list of companies and select the company you wish to view.


Main Area

The main area displays the sections available per module, as well as any subsections within each.

  • Dashboard: Main

  • HR: Main, Employee Setup, Reporting

  • Payroll and Leave: Main, Reporting, Payroll Setup, Leave, Utilities

  • Document Manager (no subsections available)

  • Attendance: Main, Setup, Reporting

  • Approval System (no subsections available)

  • Insights (no subsections available)

  • Administration: Main, Messaging, Reporting

Footer Bar

Highlighted in red above, the footer bar provides the following informative features:

  • Chat

Ask our support team any questions you may have about using Indigo here.

  • Site Uptime

This lets you know Indigo's availability over the past month.

  • Tasks

Clicking this icon opens a pop-up showing the number of Running and Complete tasks. You may notice the icon lights up when Indigo processes something, with the Tasks pop-up opening to show you the list while you wait for Indigo to finish processing your task.

  • Update Version

Indigo's latest update version is shown here. As Indigo is cloud-based, updates are automatic so users do not need to activate anything.
