Introduction

In this article, we will cover the essential actions and activities related to the SilkBio-101TC and UA150 clocking devices. It will also help you navigate the main options, manage users imported from Device Manager, and record their biometrics efficiently.

Accessing the Main Menu

The Main Menu lets you access the list of Users created on Device Manager and pushed to the device, and also lets you check the device connection settings. Follow the steps below to access the Main Menu.

  1. Press M/OK on the device, and enter your User ID (this is will have been automatically generated on Device Manager and given to you by your administrator).

  2. Select the biometric type you want to use (Passcode, Fingerprint, Face, or Palm).

    🤔 Remember

The moment the device is installed at your premises, might be in unlocked mode, which means that anyone can access to its settings freely.
Thus it is extremely important to have your future Device Administrator accessing the device for the very first time and record his or her biometrics to avoid any tampering.

  3. After logging in, you will see the Main Menu displaying a set of icons.

Communication Settings Sub-Menu

To access the Device Ethernet Settings, proceed as follows:

  1. After logging in to the Main Menu, select the third icon labelled COMM. and press M/OK.

  2. When the Comm. sub-menu opens, select Ethernet and tap M/OK.

  3. The Ethernet profile will open. Here you can edit the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, DNS, and TCP COMM. Port.

💡 Tip

We recommend to keep DHCP switched off and assign the device a static IP address.

User Management Sub-Menu

To check that the users have been pushed from Device Manager to the clocking device:

  1. Press the User Mgt. icon on the top-left of the Main Menu.

  2. User Mgt. gives you 3 options: New User, All Users, and Display Style.

  3. Select All Users to check the details of all the users synced on the device.

🧠 Important Tip

We highly recommend creating new users from Device Manager, as the data will be automatically synchronised with all devices. More on how to create a new user 👉 here, and how to import an Employee 👉 here.

Enrolling an Employee's Biometrics

Navigate to User Mgt. > All Users to manage and record biometrics for your Users.

  1. From All Users, select the employee whose biometrics you wish to enrol. You will then be prompted with Edit and Delete options.

    ⚠️ Caution

Avoid using the Delete function on your devices. Make sure to make any amendments or deletions from Device Manager as it would give you a clearer overview of the user's details and their recorded biometrics.
Learn how to delete Users and their biometrics from Device Manager 👉 here.

  2. Press Edit to access the employee's settings. Here you will be able to make changes to the user's role (normally this is done from Device Manager), as well as enrol face and palmprint biometrics, or set a passcode.

    1. Enrolling a user's fingerprint biometrics

      1. Select 'Fingerprint' and press OK.

      2. Select the finger to be enrolled by pressing the corresponding number on the device keypad.

      3. Scan the selected finger three times to enrol it in the system.

    2. Enrolling a user's facial biometrics

      1. In the 'Edit User' menu, select 'Face' and press OK.

      2. Look at the device, making sure to follow the instructions on the screen.

💡 Tip

You can navigate to User Mgt. > All Users to check which biometrics are enrolled for a User.

In the image above you can see that the Device User already has four recorded biometrics in the Verification Mode field: Password, Fingerprint, Badge, and Face.
