📚 Documentation tip: This article makes mention of the Feedback grid and certain permissions and privacy options which impact user access and visibility of the feature. All of these are covered extensively in this article.

The Write Feedback Screen

Indigo's Feedback feature empowers you to give feedback, request it for yourself or another employee, and track feedback requests that may still require your attention. Whether it's awaiting a response or pending action from colleagues, this feature keeps everything organised and accessible from the Feedback grid or several other personal versions of it.

All of the feedback magic 🌠 happens on the sleekly designed Write Feedback screen.

With the right authorisations, the screen is accessible from multiple sections within Performance Management. It can primarily be accessed by clicking the blue + Create Feedback Request button beneath the grid in the Feedback section. It can also be accessed via the blue + (Add) buttons you can find above any of the subsidiary Feedback grids in the Personal screen or the employee profile pages accessed from the Team and Employees sections.

Think of this screen as an intuitive form where you can compose your feedback or specify what you need feedback on. From there, you can decide on several key factors, such as the target employee, the employees from whom feedback is required, and the privacy level, which determines with to whom the feedback will be visible.

Giving Feedback

To give direct feedback:

  1. Access the Write Feedback screen then click on the Give Feedback tab.

  2. Select the Feedback Subject—the employee who will be receiving the feedback.

  3. Set the Privacy Level to determine the kind of confidentiality this feedback request will have. Note: privacy levels are described at the bottom of this section.

  4. Compose your feedback in the Feedback Given field.

  5. Click Send Feedback when done.

Clicking the Send Feedback button will alert the relevant employees via email of your feedback based on the selected Privacy Level. It also creates a new request entry in the main grid and your Personal screen's Feedback grid, under Sent. You can click this or any other card to access the feedback form.

Requesting Feedback

You can use the feature to request feedback from your colleagues—whether they are on your team or in other departments—for yourself or on another employee.

  1. Access the Write Feedback screen then click on the Request Feedback tab.

  2. Select the Feedback Subject—this can include yourself.

  3. Describe the kind of feedback you're looking for in the Feedback Description field.

  4. Select the employees you need to respond to your request. Note: you can filter this grid with the search bar and Direct Reports Only toggle. You can also select yourself as long as you are not the Feedback Subject.

  5. Set a due date.

  6. Set the Privacy Level to determine the kind of confidentiality this feedback request will have. Note: privacy levels are described at the bottom of this section.

  7. Click Send Request when done.

Clicking the Send Request button will alert the selected employees via email, populating their respective views of the Feedback grid in the Personal screen. They will see it under the Waiting on me tab until they respond, and under Sent once they do. Team managers and admins will see it under the Waiting on others tab.

Tracking and Responding to Feedback Requests

Throughout this article, you’ll have noticed frequent mentions of 'request(s)', as they are central to how Feedback works.

Whenever you interact with the feature, you'll be dealing with requests recorded in the Feedback grid. In a nutshell 🥜, any time the Write Feedback screen is used, a new 'feedback request' is recorded in the grid and the personal grids of those involved. This includes actions like sending quick feedback to a colleague, which instantly creates a feedback request in the grid and marks it as complete.

This system makes it easy to track feedback requests, whether pending, sent, or received, simplifying both auditing and response management. As a manager, you can use the Waiting on others tab in the Personal screen's grid, or the main grid in the Feedback section to track pending requests and nudge employees that have yet to reply.

Clicking on the blue arrow or the card of a request opens it for more details.

It's important to monitor your grids, whether you're a manager waiting on an employee or a general user asked to provide feedback. When you receive a request, you'll find it in the Personal screen's grid under Waiting on Me.

To respond:

  1. Access the request by clicking the card Personal > Feedback.

  2. Compose your feedback in the Submit Feedback

  3. Click Respond.

Clicking Respond will automatically send an email notification to all relevant employees, update the request's status in the Feedback section, and move it to the appropriate tab in both your and your manager's grids.
