Generate a Clocking Exceptions report

Learn how to make reports on punches exceptions, detailing the date and reason of an attendance exception

About the Clocking Exceptions report

The Clocking Exceptions report gathers attendance exceptions, such as missing time in or out, and breaks them down by employee. The report gives the employee name and code, the data of the attendance exception, the reason, and the total number of exceptions for a date range which you select.

Generating a Clocking Exceptions report

To generate a Clocking Exceptions report:

  1. Go to Attendance > Reporting > Clocking Exceptions.

  2. Set the Sort Order, Page Break Type, and Date From/To in the Options section.

  3. Select up to 2 levels under Grouping.

  4. Set the Template to Standard.

  5. Tick 'Remember generated report settings' under Actions if you want to save the settings you chose.

  6. Click the Generate PDF button to generate the report.

The generated Clocking Exceptions report will open in a new tab in your web browser.

To include only specific employees in your report, click the boxes next to the employees’ names in the grid.

You can create a punches exceptions report in three additional file types. Hover your mouse over the arrow near the Generate PDF button to view the options: 

  • Generate Report Viewer (generate and view the report in an online viewer).

  • Generate Merged (generate and view the report in an online viewer merged into a single, contiguous document).

  • Generate Data Only As Excel (generate the report with data as an Excel sheet). 

Send Clocking Exceptions reports in an email

To send a PDF version of the report in an email:

  1. Go to Attendance > Reporting > Clocking Exceptions.

  2. Select dates for the report under Options.

  3. Optionally select to create groups in the report under Grouping.

  4. Click Send Report in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

  5. Fill in details of the email, and then click Send Report.
