Overview

Occupation ranking is a tool you can use to sort your Scheduler by order of your organisation's occupations by hierarchy.

When occupation ranking is enabled in your Indigo system, you will be able to rank your occupations in an order that suits your needs. Then, when you want to sort your Scheduler by occupations, Indigo will organise your occupations from highest to lowest rankings or, conversely, lowest to highest rankings.

Without occupation ranking enabled, and when you choose to sort your Scheduler by Occupation, Indigo will order the occupations alphabetically.

Enabling occupation rankings

Go to Attendance > Main > Settings > Attendance > Scheduler.

Your Occupations support files will have a new column titled Rankings.

Ranking your occupations

To add a ranking to an occupation, go to the Occupations page, click on Edit in the functions bar, enter a ranking value, and then click Save.

Take note that the ranking column is based on alpha numeric values, and not numeric values. Therefore, we suggest using the format illustrated below (please be advised that the following is an example only):

Ranking

Occupation

0010

Administration

0020

Developers

0030

IT

0040

Marketing

0050

QA

0060

Support

... and so on. In this way, if you need to rank a new occupation or re-rank an existing occupation that is higher than other existing occupations, you can replace the final zero with another number.

When occupations are ranking, you can then click on the Occupation header in your Scheduler to sort your roster by occupation ranking. You have the choice to sort by ascending, descending, or default order. The Scheduler does not sort itself by occupation ranking automatically.
