Introduction
After getting an overview of currencies in Indigo Business, you're ready to create your first currency record. Follow the steps below before jumping into exchange rates.
Steps
To create a new currency:
Go to Settings & Pref. > Financial Settings > Currencies.
Select the ➕ Add button at the top left of the grid.
The Add Currency drawer will open.
Click the Full Screen button next to the X Close icon in the top right corner of the drawer for better visibility.
Fill in the mandatory fields:
The Currency dropdown: choose from the most common worldwide currencies. The ISO Code and Symbol fields will update automatically.
Name: updates automatically on Currency selection, but can then be modified.
Operator: choose from 'Multiply' (default option) and 'Divide'.
Fill in the remaining optional fields, if needed:
Description: add any extra details related to the currency.
Decimals: specify the number of decimal places the currency supports. (Set to '2' by default.) Must be greater than or equal to 'zero'.
On Hold: when ticked, the currency is set to 'On Hold' and won't be available for selection in any screen.
When you're ready, select Save.
💡Tip: Select the Update Rates button in the Add Currency drawer to automatically populate today's rate according to the ECB (European Central Bank) rates publications. You can also manually add rates. Select the button below to learn how to do it.
Deleting a Currency
You can delete an existing currency using the designated 🗑️ Delete icon on the top left of the grid.
⚠️ You can't delete a currency if it's assigned to any entity within the system (e.g. transaction, any type of account, etc.) or an exchange rate is entered for it.
