Introduction

Picture this: you pay one particular allowance (or rate) when the team works on a normal Sunday, and another one when they work on a public holiday falling on a Sunday—but you don't want both allowances to apply at the same time. To handle this, set up two rewards and give them different priorities.

How the Double-Reward Setup Works

Both rewards need to apply to the same day of the week, Sunday, but with different conditions:

  • One is a reward for an ordinary Sunday.

  • One is a reward for a Sunday that is also a public holiday.

But if only one must be applied on any given Sunday, how does Indigo know which is the right reward to apply? The answer is in the priority.

Indigo checks the reward with the higher priority first. If all the conditions of this reward are met, then the lower-priority reward is ignored. This means:

  • If the day is Sunday and not a public holiday, and this condition has been given the higher priority in Indigo, the first reward applies.

  • If the day is Sunday and is a public holiday, the second reward is applied instead.

Example

Rewards Setup

  • Reward 1: Sunday but not Public Holiday

    • Priority: 1

    • Expected Allowance Allocation: + €2 /hour

  • Reward 2: Sunday including Public Holidays

    • Priority: 2

    • Expected Rate Allocation: add overtime at 2.0 rate

Scenario

An employee is assigned to a shift that has both rewards linked. The employee works on:

  • 7 June 2026 (Sunday and public holiday)

  • 14 June 2026 (Sunday, not a public holiday)

Let's see how the set up rewards will generate allocations for the employee.

Allocations Result

  • 14th June 2026 (Sunday, not a public holiday)
The system matches Reward 1 (priority 1). The employee's corresponding Daily Attendance Allocation receives €2 per hour, as expected.

  • 7th June 2026 (Sunday and public holiday)
The system does not match Reward 1, because the day is a public holiday.
It then checks the next rule and matches Reward 2 (priority 2). The employee's Daily Attendance Allocation receives overtime at a 2.0 rate.
