Introduction

Imagine a world where cars had no fuel gauge, or phones showed a confusing battery meter that left you guessing how much time you had left before blackout! 🙈 It wouldn’t make sense.

The Leave Balances widget in Indigo's Employee Portal solves this problem for leave tracking. The dials give you a clear, visual overview of your current leave balance—no maths, no cross-referencing spreadsheets, just a simple, intuitive view.

Dial Gauge Overview

The widget displays a colour-coded dial for each leave type you’re allowed to view. For example, you might see a dial for annual vacation leave, but not for sick leave—depending on how your company has set things up.

The gauge's title is the Leave Type name, visible at the bottom section of the gauge. The widget includes the following interactive options:

  • Click the number on a gauge to switch between hours and days.

  • Tick Hide Zero Balances to hide gauges with a zero balance.

Colour Coding

Indigo

The Indigo coloured area indicates your remaining leave balance until end of year.

Grey

The Grey area indicates used leave.

Blue

The Blue area indicates pending upcoming leave.

Yellow

The Yellow area indicates approved upcoming leave.

Green and Orange

The Green marker on the outer Orange outline shows your Ideal Leave Balance. This is your leave balance worked out pro-rata against the number of days remaining until the end of the year.

In other words, the Ideal Leave Balance is a suggested indicator of how the level of your leave should look like to have an ideally healthy work-life balance throughout the year.
