Introduction

Work Zones can refer to a department (e.g. administration), a specific room (e.g Boardroom), area of a building (e.g. Main Entrance; Kitchen), a location (e.g. Restaurant 'X'), and so on.

When a Work Zone is created, you can then assign people to it. This will allow you to specify accesses for that specific work zone.
Now you are ready to assign a device to the newly created work zone.

🤔 Remember:

One Work Zone can be linked to multiple Devices.
One Device can only be linked to a single Work Zone.

Examples

You can use Work Zones in different ways to restrict ⛔ or allow 👍 access to your facilities or areas. Below are a couple of examples to help illustrate the process.

Scenario 1 (one work zone for multiple devices)

  • You are the owner of 3 restaurants.

    • Restaurant A

    • Restaurant B

    • Restaurant C

  • Each Restaurant has 2 devices:

    • One for the Staff Entrance door.

    • The other for the Kitchen door.

This means that you will have a total of 6 devices among your restaurants, named as follow:

    1. 'Staff Entrance door for Restaurant A'
    2. 'Kitchen door for Restaurant A'

    3. 'Staff Entrance door for Restaurant B'
    4. 'Kitchen door for Restaurant B'

    5. 'Staff Entrance door for Restaurant C'
    6. 'Kitchen door for Restaurant C'

Your chefs can be called to work in any of the 3 restaurants, so what you would do is:

  1. Create 2 Work Zones:

    • WORK ZONE 1: 'Staff Entrance'

    • WORK ZONE 2: 'Kitchen Door'

  2. Assign the devices as follows:

    • WORK ZONE 1: 'Staff Entrance':

      • 'Staff Entrance door for Restaurant A'

      • 'Staff Entrance door for Restaurant B'

      • 'Staff Entrance door for Restaurant C'

    • WORK ZONE 2: 'Kitchen Door':

      • 'Kitchen door for Restaurant A'

      • 'Kitchen door for Restaurant B

      • 'Kitchen door for Restaurant C'

  3. Assign the created Work Zones ('Staff Entrance'; 'Kitchen Entrance) to your chefs so that they have to access both the Staff doors and the Kitchen doors. If you click on the Work Zone and select the Linked Device Users tab, the imported users will look like the image below.

🧠 Tip: On the other hand, if there are waiters who need to access all the Staff Entrance doors but not the Kitchen doors, you will only assign the 'Staff Entrance' work zone to your waiters.

Scenario 2 (one device for a single work zone)

  • The Company Y has 3 departments in its building:

    • Department 1

    • Department 2

    • Department 3

  • The departments are accessible through 3 separate doors and their assigned devices.

    • Door 1

    • Door 2

    • Door 3

  • This means that each department's door will have its own device. In this case you will proceed as follow:

    1. Create 3 Work Zones

      • WORK ZONE 1: 'Department 1'

      • WORK ZONE 2: 'Department 2'

      • WORK ZONE 3: 'Department 3'

    2. Create 3 Devices

      • 'Door 1 for Department 1'

      • 'Door 2 for Department 2'

      • 'Door 3 for Department 3'

Your employees need to access a specific door according to the department(s) they belong to or cooperate with.

This means that if the employee 'Celine' works for 'Department 1', she will need access via the device named 'Door 1 for Department 1'.
